It's Time to Get Your Flu Vaccine

    Flu Vaccine Supply: Available.

To Make and Appointment: (530) 752-2349

UC Davis SHCS Medical Services urges all students to receive the seasonal vaccine. The seasonal flu vaccine protects against four influenza viruses that research indicates will be most common during the upcoming season and is recommended for all students by the CDC and California State Health Department.

Vaccination is available at SHCS Medical Services

Read the prevention section of our Influenza Health Topic to learn about ways to prevent getting sick.

    Seasonal Flu Vaccination Options

The seasonal flu vaccine protects against three influenza viruses that research indicates will be most common during the upcoming season.

SHCS Medical Services offers seasonal flu shots. Students who are interested in vaccination can contact our Appointment Desk (530) 752-2349 to schedule an appointment. Students who have questions can schedule an appointment with an Advice Nurse to discuss vaccination options.

    Flu and High Risk Conditions

It is especially important for those with chronic conditions to receive the seasonal flu vaccine. Below are some examples of high risk conditions. Students who have questions can contact their health care provider or our Advice Nurse (530) 752-2349 if they have questions.

    Flu and Asthma

Influenza is a very serious illness for those with asthma. An analysis by the American Lung Association found that if 100% of people with asthma received a flu shot, close to 136,000 hospitalizations could be prevented each year.

    Other High Risk Conditions

Other conditions that place people at high risk for the flu include:

    • chronic lung disease such as emphysema, chronic bronchitis, bronchiectasis, tuberculosis, or cystic fibrosis
    • heart disease
    • chronic kidney disease
    • diabetes or other chronic metabolic disorder
    • severe anemia
    • diseases or treatments that depress immunity
