The UC SHIP Committee was formed to provide broad campus involvement in the maintenance and development of the Student Health Insurance Plan (UC SHIP), and provide informed advice to the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs regarding SHIP. The Committee endeavors to provide a health insurance plan that best meets the essential medical needs of most students at an affordable price. It recognizes that exceptional medical needs for a small number of students may be better met by alternative health plans. Students, university administration, and faculty are represented on the Committee. Members are appointed by the Vice Chancellor for one-year terms. The SHIP committee generally meets for 1-2 hours, approximately once a month, with additional meetings scheduled as necessary. This committee does not meet during the summer. Previous health insurance experience is not required.
Additional information is available below. Undergraduate students interested in participating as a representative on the UC SHIP committee for the 2017-2018 academic year can contact Romana Naqvi. Graduate and professional students should check with their department or student government about participation in this committee.
