Every Student Has Access to SHCS
Every UC Davis student has access to all services at Student Health and Counseling Services, regardless of their insurance coverage.

Always Carry Your Insurance Card
You should always carry a copy of your current insurance ID card with you. Accidents happen without warning. You never know when you may need to provide your insurance information to a provider's office, an ambulance driver, or the receptionist at the Emergency Room.
If you can't keep a physical copy of your ID card with you, take a picture of the front and back of your card with your cell phone.

Know Your Insurance
Students who have elected to waive enrollment in UC SHIP, it's a good idea for you to know a few things about your private insurance coverage.
- Where can you go to get care?
- How much is it going to cost?
- What's covered by your insurance?
It's very important that you understand how your coverage works here in Davis. Contact your insurance company's customer service department to find which providers in the area you can go to.
