When SHCS has reduced services, students can call the following resources: Medical Advice Nurse at 530-752-2349, Counseling Services at 530-752-0871, or the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline at 988.  Additional support is available:  LiveHealth Online for SHIP students (virtual medical and mental health care) and UWill (virtual mental health care).

How I Work With Students

My approach to therapy focuses on building a strong and genuine therapeutic alliance. This alliance will foster a safe and empowering space where students feel seen, heard, and valued. I work from a strengths-based and multicultural lens, honoring each student’s unique identities and lived experiences. I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help students explore how their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors interact, while also empowering them to develop practical tools for positive and hopeful change. I also weave in humor and authenticity to create a warm, supportive space where students can feel safe, challenged, and supported in their growth.

I work with all students and am especially passionate about providing culturally responsive care to racial/ethnic and sexual minorities. I have a particular interest in working with immigrants, undocumented students, and first-generation college students. My clinical focus includes supporting students experiencing mental illness, trauma, depression, anxiety, hopelessness, homesickness, academic stress, challenges in romantic relationships, and grief. I also have a strong interest in couples therapy and am passionate about helping students navigate the complexities of interpersonal connection and emotional resilience.

About Me

I am a Health Service Psychology Doctoral Intern and an immigrant originally from México. As an immigrant, I am passionate about understanding the unique challenges this population faces while navigating new systems and adjusting to unfamiliar environments. My doctoral dissertation reflects this interest, as I explore the lived experiences of Latine immigrants in psychotherapy.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, traveling, staying active, listening to music, and exploring new food spots. I'm also a geek culture enthusiast—I love playing video games, trading card games, tabletop games, watching TV, films, and anime, and attending nerdy conventions in my free time.
