Health Promotion uses a health equity lens to foster environments, institutional practices and a campus culture that promote student well-being and academic success. Below are some projects and collaborative efforts of HP.
Thriving in Graduate School
this is a collaborative program with Health Promotion and Graduate Studies to help graduate students to learn how to cultivate well-being in your personal, academic and professional life. This year-long program includes a weekly newsletter and frequent in-person workshops and informal events. Graduate students can sign up at any time.
Weight Stigma Initiatives
Health Promotion helps to educate the student community about the impacts of weight stigma and the option to decline being weighed at your provider appointment.
Aggie Well-Being Champions Award
The Aggie Well-Being Champions Award recognizes instructors and teaching assistants who are particularly attuned to the increasing health and wellness challenges students are facing and are taking concrete steps to support students. The College of Biological Sciences has partnered with Health Promotion to pilot the inaugural Aggie Well-Being Champions Awards. We will be expanding nominations in collaboration with other colleges in the near future.
