Committee Composition
The management and operation of the UC Davis Student Health Services is the responsibility of the Director of Student Health. However, any change in fee or major programmatic change will require the recommendation of the Health Fee Oversight Committee and the approval of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs or designee.
The Health Fee Oversight Committee is authorized to adapt its structure (by a two-thirds vote of the full Committee) within the guidelines listed below:
- The number of voting student members (undergraduate plus graduate/professional) constitutes a voting majority. No single student group alone (undergraduate or graduate/professional) shall constitute a voting majority. The number of voting undergraduate students are not less than four, and the number of voting graduate/professional students are not less than four.
- The student representatives are appointed by the Vice Chancellor—Student Affairs. The undergraduate student members shall be selected in agreement with the Associated Students of the University of California, Davis. The graduate/professional student members shall be selected in agreement with the Graduate Student Association (in collaboration with professional school student governments).
- The student members are selected from the following (this list is not definitive): Associated Students of the University of California, Davis (ASUCD), Graduate Student Association (GSA), Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) Committee, Student Services and Fees Advisory Committee (SSFAC), and the Student Health Services Internship Program.
- The committee includes non-voting advisory members representative of the Office of Benefits and Risk Management, the Office of the Vice Chancellor—Student Affairs, and the Student Health Services. The Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs serves as Committee chair.
Recruitment Procedure
All committee voting members are appointed by the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs on the recommendation of the Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, the Director of Student Health Services, the presidents of ASUCD and LSA, and the chair of the GSA.
Roles and Responsibilities
- The Health Fee Oversight Committee is authorized to recommend changes in the mandatory Student Health Fee and the level and types of services the Fee supports.
- A change in any provisions of the Student Health Fee referendum or any major programmatic change in services provided through Student Health Services as stipulated in that referendum, requires the approval of the Health Fee Oversight Committee and the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs.
- The Health Fee Oversight Committee is authorized to adapt its structure within guidelines specified in the Student Health Initiative.
