Medical Services at the Student Health and Wellness Center

SHCS Medical Services, including Insurance Services, is conveniently located on the West side of campus at the Student Health & Wellness Center (SHWC). The center is located on La Rue Road between Hutchison Drive and Orchard Road, across the street from the Activities and Recreation Center (ARC) and next to the Colleges at La Rue. Access to the closest parking (lot 35) is on Orchard Road.

A limited number of patient parking spots are available in Lot 35 for students being seen at Student Health and Counseling Services. These parking spots are located in front of the SHWC Main Entrance and are not guaranteed. Ask for a patient parking permit from the Information Desk at the Main Entrance to place in your car when you arrive.

If patient parking spots are full, A/C/L permit parking, day permit parking, and metered parking spots are also available in lot 35 and in nearby lots.

In addition, there is a Unitrans bus stop outside the SHWC that serves several of the bus lines originating from the Silo terminal.

Counseling and Psychological Services at North Hall

SHCS Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) is located in the center of the core campus at North Hall. North Hall faces the east side of the quad and is next to Dutton Hall and South Hall. This part of campus is not accessible by car; however, there is plenty of bicycle parking in front and North Hall is close to the Memorial Union bus stop. The nearest metered and paid/permit parking lots are the North Entry Parking Structure and the VP 5 parking lot.

To schedule an appointment with a counselor call (530) 752-0871 or drop-in for an appointment at Room 219 on the second floor of North Hall. Urgent care services are also available during the normal hours of operation at 219 North Hall.

Peer Counseling Services at The House

The House is a drop-in and phone counseling service, open weekdays 8am to 5pm. Students can talk to another student about personal and academic problems. House staff help students with concerns such as relationship, loneliness, depression, and personal growth and provide workshops and wellness programs.

The House, TB -16, is the tan and green two story building next to the UCD Housing Office and across from Regan Residence Hall.
