The UC Davis Student Health & Wellness Center utilizes the newest technology and the latest trends in student healthcare to enhance student visits and delivery of care.

Nutrition Services offered at the Student Health & Wellness Center include individual counseling or group classes. Among the classes offered are cooking classes in our Teaching Kitchen and our Weight Management Series.


Eat Well, Live Healthy! Series

Cost: No charge.
Eligibility: All registered students.

All cooking classes are designed with the busy student in mind. The classes are meant to provide cooking skills and nutrition education as well as inspire even the busiest student body to cook!

This class is designed with the busy student in mind and will teach you how to prepare on-the-go snacks, breakfasts, and lunches to help power you through your day.

This cooking demonstration is taught by a Chef who will show you how to prepare dinner salad and entrees from start to finish. They are so tasty, you will want to prepare them at home!

Let's Dish! Cooking Competition

Ready… set… LET’S DISH! Join us at the Block Party for this Chopped-style cooking competition. Two teams will develop their own recipes using ingredients from The Pantry, the Student Farm, and a mystery ingredient. A panel of judges, including Dr. Applegate will select a winning dish.

Want to join in the fun? Sign up your team and submit a recipe! Email Katy Hillegass at kchillegass@ucdavis.edu. with the following information:

  • Full names for both team members
  • Year in school for both members
  • Dish name and recipe
    NOTE: Your dish must incorporate at least 2 ingredients that can be found at the Pantry. This can include Applesauce, Bars (energy bars, granola bars etc) Cereal, Chili, Oatmeal, Pasta, Peaches, Ramen, Pasta sauce, Soup, Tuna, Winter squash, Carrots, Garlic, Kale, Lettuce, Cabbage and more.

Applications are due by Tuesday, April 28, 2015


Individual Nutrition Assessments

Cost: $15 for all registered students.
Access: By appointment only.
Eligibility: All registered students.
Location: Third floor of the Student Health and Wellness Center.
Hours of Operation

Student Health Services has an in-house Registered Dietitian that provides nutrition therapy for a variety of nutrition related health issues including weight management, diabetes, heart disease, eating disorders and gastro-intestinal disturbances among other medical diagnosis.

Individual appointments for consultations include nutritional assessment, counseling and education to promote healthy lifestyle habits.

Scheduling an Appointment

If you are interested in seeing the dietitian, ask for a referral from your provider. Appointments can be made at the SHCS registration windows at the UC Davis Student Health & Wellness Center or by calling (530) 752-2349.
